Urban Company Franchise

Home & Personal ServicesEst. 2014Gurugram, Haryana

Home and beauty services app, not a franchise: professionals join as individuals and pay commission. FY26 revenue ₹1,556 Cr, loss ₹235 Cr.

About This Listing

Urban Company does not sell franchises. It runs an app-based marketplace: independent beauty, cleaning and repair professionals take jobs through its app and the company keeps a share of each job; it also sells its own 'Native' water purifiers and smart locks. There is no franchise fee, territory or outlet to buy. The only way to work with it is as an individual service professional.

About the Brand

Brand USP

A home-services app listed on the NSE and BSE: about 59,500 service professionals active each month on average in FY26, and live in 51 cities including its UAE and Singapore business, by its own count.

HeadquartersGurugram, Haryana
Urban Company (formerly UrbanClap) is an app that books beauty, spa, cleaning, pest-control, appliance-repair and handyman services at home, delivered by independent professionals it trains and lists. It also sells its own 'Native' water purifiers and smart locks, runs a house-help service called InstaHelp, and operates in the UAE and Singapore, with a joint venture in Saudi Arabia. Founded in 2014 and listed on the NSE and BSE since September 2025, it reported ₹1,556 Cr revenue in FY26 (up 36%) and 8.4 million transacting users, across 51 cities. Urban Company does not sell franchises. There is no franchise fee, outlet, territory or royalty to buy into, and no partner model for an investor. The only way to work with it is as an individual professional: the company says partners earned about ₹28,600 a month in hand on about 90 working hours a month in FY26, and averaged about 59,500 monthly active partners that year. It keeps a commission on each job; after partner protests in 2021 it cut the top commission slab from 30% to 25% (Moneylife, Oct 2021). What to watch: the company swung from a ₹240 Cr profit in FY25 (helped by a ₹211 Cr tax credit) to a ₹235 Cr loss in FY26 (including a ₹60 Cr deferred-tax charge) as it spent on InstaHelp, and says InstaHelp losses will stay elevated. Professionals rate the partner app 3.1/5 on Google Play, and employees rate the company 3.3/5 on AmbitionBox. In 2021 it went to court to stop protests by partners over its subscription plans and penalties. These are worker and platform matters, not franchise terms — anyone offering an 'Urban Company franchise' is not offering something the company sells.

Why invest in Urban Company?

- Urban Company says about 59,500 service professionals were active each month on average in FY26, across 51 cities. - It reported ₹1,556 Cr revenue in FY26, up 36%, but a ₹235 Cr loss, driven by spending on its InstaHelp house-help service and a ₹60 Cr deferred-tax charge. - It sells no franchises: there is no fee, territory or outlet, so it does not fit a franchise investment.
