About the Brand

Brand USP

Yuma says it designs and makes its own battery packs and charging units, rather than only running a swap network (TechCrunch, Aug 2026).

Parent CompanyJoint venture of Magna International Inc. and Yulu Bikes Pvt. Ltd.
Franchising Since2024
HeadquartersBengaluru, Karnataka
Yuma Energy is a battery-swapping network for electric two- and three-wheelers: a rider exchanges a drained battery for a charged one at a station, which the brand says takes about a minute on average. Its site says it was launched in 2023 as a joint venture of Magna and Yulu, and its terms page names the operating company as Magna Yuma Private Limited. TechCrunch (31 Aug 2026) describes a Bengaluru company with more than 60 million lifetime swaps, about 100,000 batteries, more than 400 stations and 2,500 charging units across 18 cities, and a further $35 million from Magna. The partner offer is to host a Yuma station. Yuma's partner page says the host provides space (a space as small as 200 sq ft can take a station) and Yuma installs a complete station, with a rider app, a partner dashboard and 24/7 support. Stations come in 4, 5, 9 and 12 slot sizes. Yuma says hosts can 'earn upto 24% ROI'. Its About page says franchise-led operations began in 2024 in Indore, Kochi and Tirunelveli. A Nov 2025 interview reprinted on its own site reports that of about 400 touch points most are company-owned and run, and the rest are partnerships with franchisees, so host partners are the smaller share of the network. TechCrunch adds that Yulu, the co-owner and a delivery-fleet operator, still accounts for the vast majority of the 60 million lifetime swaps (non-Yulu customers were about 15% to 20% of swaps in the latest quarter), so station traffic depends heavily on one fleet. What to watch: Yuma publishes no investment, fee, revenue share, agreement term or payback, and does not say who owns the station equipment or how the host is paid. The 24% ROI figure has no stated period, base or sample. TechCrunch reports the company is not yet profitable overall, with some older stations EBITDA-positive and a target of EBITDA break-even within two quarters (Autocar Pro: EBITDA-positive operations by FY27), and quotes its managing director calling the business capital-intensive. The same report puts revenue for the year to March 2026 at about Rs 100 crore, a press figure and not a filing. The company's registry status and CIN were not read from MCA21, so confirm who signs the agreement.

Why invest in Yuma Energy?

- Yuma says its network handles 50,000+ swaps a day at 99.8% uptime (brand claims, home page). - TechCrunch reports Magna put in a further $35 million in Aug 2026 and that revenue for the year to March 2026 was about Rs 100 crore (press figure). - Stations come in four sizes (4, 5, 9 and 12 slots) and need as little as 200 sq ft (brand statement).
