KFC Franchise

Food & BeverageIndia (Yum Restaurants (India) Pvt Ltd)

Yum-owned fried-chicken chain; 1,358 restaurants run by two franchisee companies (Mar 2026). No public franchise programme or terms found.

About This Listing

We found no franchise, partner or dealer page on KFC India's own websites (checked 17 Oct 2026; its main site could not be loaded from our servers, and its restaurant-locator site carries none). Exchange-listed franchise companies run almost every KFC restaurant in India: Devyani International and Sapphire Foods India, which announced a merger on 1 Jan 2026 under which the combined company is to hold the KFC and Pizza Hut franchise rights across India. We found no public programme for a single-restaurant franchise, so we list KFC as 'unknown' rather than open. Fake KFC franchise websites have taken lakhs from applicants (see the fraud alerts below).

The Week reported in Jan 2026 that the merged Devyani-Sapphire company is to hold KFC franchise rights across the Indian market, replacing the earlier split of territories, and that Yum agreed longer-term waivers. About the Brand

Brand USP

Yum-owned fried-chicken chain run in India almost entirely by two listed franchise companies that are merging.

Parent CompanyYum! Brands, Inc.
HeadquartersIndia (Yum Restaurants (India) Pvt Ltd)
KFC is a fried-chicken quick-service chain owned by Yum! Brands, which entered India in 1995 (it left after protests and returned in 1999, per a 2023 Finshots explainer). Yum Restaurants (India) Pvt Ltd is the Yum company that, per Devyani's annual report, sold KFC stores to Devyani. Almost every restaurant is run by two listed franchise companies: Devyani International reported 783 KFC restaurants in India at 31 Mar 2026 (annual report) and Sapphire Foods India reported 575 at that date and 591 by 30 Jun 2026 (investor presentation). Both counts exclude restaurants Yum India still runs itself, such as 19 in Hyderabad that Devyani is to take over (The Week). The two are merging, and the merged company is to hold KFC franchise rights across India. KFC India publishes no investment, franchise fee, royalty, payback or agreement terms, and we found no public single-restaurant franchise programme, so FranchiseChuno lists the status as unknown. At the franchisee-company level, Devyani's KFC India revenue was ₹2,373.7 Cr in FY26 (up 8.9%) with same-store sales down 0.8% and a 15.8% brand contribution margin, and Sapphire reported a 16.3% restaurant EBITDA margin for KFC India in FY26 (both from the companies' own reports). What to watch: blog posts quote KFC franchise costs of ₹96 L to ₹2 Cr; KFC does not publish them, and we have not used them. Police have busted gangs running dozens of fake KFC franchise sites (Hyderabad 2023, Dehradun 2023). Yum! Brands' FY2025 annual report says it has been subject to a regulatory enforcement action in India alleging foreign-exchange-law violations (conditions of operating approvals such as minimum investment and store build, and limits on remitting fees abroad); we could not confirm the amount, court status or outcome.

Why invest in KFC?

- Devyani International (783 KFC restaurants, 31 Mar 2026) and Sapphire Foods India (575 at 31 Mar 2026, 591 by Jun 2026) run almost all KFC restaurants in India, per their own reports. - Sapphire reported a 16.3% KFC India restaurant EBITDA margin for FY26; Devyani's KFC India same-store sales fell 0.8% (recovering to +4.9% in Q4). - Both franchisees are merging, and the merged company is to hold KFC franchise rights across India (announced 1 Jan 2026).
