Burger King India Franchise

Burger King India: listed master franchisee runs 581 restaurants itself; only 5 sub-franchised (Mar 2026). No public franchise programme or terms found.

About This Listing

Burger King India does not publish a franchise programme. The company, Restaurant Brands Asia Ltd (formerly Burger King India Ltd), is the master franchisee for India and runs almost every restaurant itself: its FY26 annual report counts 581 restaurants at 31 Mar 2026, only 5 of them sub-franchised. Burger King's pages we could read (the home page; other pages returned an access-denied error) show no franchise or sub-franchise page, and the annual report calls sub-franchising only a source of initial fees and royalty income, so we cannot confirm that new sub-franchises are being offered and list the status as 'unknown'.

About the Brand

Brand USP

Listed master franchisee that runs almost every Burger King restaurant in India itself; sub-franchising is under 1% of the network.

HeadquartersMumbai
Burger King India is run by Restaurant Brands Asia Ltd (formerly Burger King India Ltd), an NSE/BSE-listed company that holds the master franchise for Burger King in India (and Burger King and Popeyes in Indonesia). Burger King opened in India in 2014, and the company's FY26 annual report counts 581 India restaurants at 31 Mar 2026, 5 of them sub-franchised. The annual report says the master franchise agreements for India and Indonesia were extended up to 2050, with a royalty to the brand owner capped at 5%. There is no published franchise offer: no investment, fee, royalty to sub-franchisees, area or agreement terms. The company holds the right to sub-franchise, but five sub-franchised restaurants out of 581 show that route is a very small part of the network, and management's stated plan is 60 to 80 new India restaurants a year. FranchiseChuno therefore lists the status as unknown. What to watch: the group made a consolidated loss of ₹204.1 Cr in FY26 (₹187.1 Cr attributable to owners) on ₹2,822.6 Cr revenue, against ₹232.8 Cr (₹216.2 Cr to owners) in FY25, with its Indonesian business still loss-making (6 more restaurants closed in FY26 after 8 the year before). India revenue grew 15.4% to ₹2,271.7 Cr on 4.0% same-store sales growth. Control of the company changed on 7 Jul 2026 when Lenexis Foodworks, Inspira Global's food and beverage arm, completed its acquisition of control; the annual report puts the total investment at about ₹2,235 Cr, including about ₹1,500 Cr of fresh capital for the company.
