Ask before you sign

  1. Speak to at least 3 franchisees who have run an outlet for 2+ years and see their actual monthly sales and profit — a franchisor making money doesn't mean its franchisees do.
  2. Ask for every upfront payment in writing — deposit, onboarding, equipment or stock — and which parts are refundable.
  3. Ask exactly how your margin or commission is calculated, when it's paid, and whether the brand can change it.

Our Estimates

FranchiseChuno estimate

Amul Parlour doesn't publish these, so here is our best read of the market and how we got there. They are our estimates, not the brand's figures — use them to plan, then confirm the real numbers in writing.

  • All-in cash to open an Amul Parlour, including opening stock

₹2.5–3.5 L (excluding shop rent deposit)*

Amul's own figures give ₹1.85 L (₹25,000 deposit + ~₹80,000 renovation + ~₹80,000 equipment). Add opening stock of milk products, ice cream and frozen snacks and a month's working capital — we assume ₹0.65–1.65 L for a 100–150 sq ft shop, since Amul says only that working capital depends on sales. GST on equipment and rent deposit extra.

⚠ Scam alert

Fake 'Amul franchise' websites taking money

GCMMF told the Delhi High Court that rogue websites offered Amul dealerships, franchises and jobs and asked applicants to deposit money in various bank accounts. The court ordered them blocked in Aug 2020 and kept adding sites, including one taking Amul Parlour applications (Feb 2025).

About the Brand

Brand USP

No royalty or profit share and no franchise fee listed: the partner pays a refundable deposit, sets up the shop to Amul's design and keeps the retail margin on Amul products.

Parent CompanyGujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF)
HeadquartersAnand, Gujarat
Amul Parlours are small shops that sell the Amul range — milk, butter, cheese, ice cream, frozen pizza and other Amul products — run by franchisees under the brand of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the Anand-based federation of dairy co-operatives that markets Amul. Amul says there are more than 10,000 Amul Parlours (Amul Preferred Outlets) across India, up from the 'more than 8,000' its older page claimed in 2025. GCMMF reported its own turnover at ₹73,450 Cr in FY26, a figure for all Amul products, not for parlours. Amul publishes four formats. An Amul Parlour needs a 100–150 sq ft shop (owned or rented), a ₹25,000 refundable deposit, about ₹80,000 for renovation to Amul's design and about ₹80,000 for a deep freezer, visi-cooler, milk cooler and pizza oven. A scooping parlour serving sundaes and shakes needs 250–400 sq ft, a ₹50,000 deposit, about ₹3 L for interiors and ₹1.5 L for equipment. Kiosks at institutions and railway stations follow allotments, with stalls costing ₹2.5–4 L. Amul charges no royalty or profit share and lists no franchise fee; stock comes from Amul's wholesale dealers and the franchisee keeps the retail margin. Amul says monthly turnover generally runs ₹5–10 L depending on location. What to watch: Amul does not publish its margins per product, profit, payback, contract term or territory, and rent, staff, electricity, stock and working capital are on the franchisee. Fake 'Amul franchise' websites are a real risk: GCMMF has been in the Delhi High Court since 2020 against sites collecting money for Amul dealerships and parlours, and in Feb 2025 added another site that was taking applications for Amul Parlours. GCMMF told the court these sites asked applicants to deposit money, so check that any offer and agreement come from GCMMF itself.

Why invest in Amul Parlour?

- Amul's own franchise page lists an Amul Parlour at a ₹25,000 refundable deposit plus about ₹80,000 renovation and ₹80,000 equipment, in a 100–150 sq ft shop. - Amul charges no royalty or profit share; the franchisee earns the retail margin on stock bought from Amul's wholesale dealers. - Amul says it has more than 10,000 Amul Parlours; its parent GCMMF reported ₹73,450 Cr turnover in FY26 (franchisor figures, not parlour earnings).
