About This Listing

Vision Express India's current website has no franchise or dealership page and does not say whether it takes franchise partners. Its earlier website carried a 'dealership/franchise' enquiry page (archived Dec 2020), but nothing on the present site confirms the programme is still open. Treat any franchise offer as unconfirmed until Vision Express states its terms.

About the Brand

Brand USP

A Reliance Retail–GrandVision joint venture combining optometrist eye tests with eyewear retail.

Parent CompanyJoint venture of Reliance Retail Ltd and GrandVision (part of EssilorLuxottica)
HeadquartersMumbai, Maharashtra (registered office)
Vision Express runs optical stores in India selling spectacles, sunglasses and contact lenses, with eye tests by optometrists. Its own About page says it launched in 2009 as a joint venture between Reliance Retail and the European optical chain GrandVision, now part of EssilorLuxottica; the stores are run by Reliance-Vision Express Pvt Ltd. Its store locator listed 148 stores in Oct 2026 (117 high-street, 31 in malls), concentrated in Maharashtra (58), Karnataka (35) and Telangana (35), with only a handful in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the NCR. Vision Express does not publish a franchise offer. Its earlier website had a dealership/franchise enquiry page (archived Dec 2020), but the current site has none, and nothing shows that any of its stores are franchised. It publishes no investment, fee, royalty, margin or contract terms. If a franchise were offered, FranchiseChuno estimates ₹30–50 L* for a 400–600 sq ft optical store with testing equipment and stock. What to watch: the operating company has reported a net loss in every year on record, FY15 to FY25 (₹11.2 Cr loss on ₹82.7 Cr revenue in FY25, filings via Tracxn). Revenue is about 30% below its FY19 peak of ₹117.8 Cr, even though paid-up capital has reached ₹353 Cr. The network has shrunk: Vision Express announced its 170th store in Dec 2018, when it said it had 16 stores in Delhi, and entered Punjab and Madhya Pradesh in early 2019; its locator now lists 148 stores, one in Delhi itself (six across the NCR) and none in Punjab or Madhya Pradesh, while its Our Story page still repeats the 2019 claim of 160+ stores. ConsumerComplaints.in lists 115 complaints (100 unresolved; page last updated Jul 2023), mostly from customers about delayed or faulty glasses, and in 2022 the Karnataka State Consumer Commission upheld a finding of deficient service against the company. Anyone offered a Vision Express franchise should insist on written terms from Reliance-Vision Express Pvt Ltd itself and check real store numbers with existing partners, if there are any.

Why invest in Vision Express?

- A Reliance Retail–GrandVision joint venture, per its About page; the operating company's paid-up capital was ₹353 Cr in Feb 2026 (MCA via Tracxn) - 148 stores on its own locator in Oct 2026, mostly in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana - Stores offer optometrist eye tests alongside eyewear, per Vision Express
