  • Cash needed to start as a Thomas Vet PCD partner

    ₹25,000–1 L*

Thomas Vet publishes no minimum order. Comparable veterinary PCD companies publish entry costs in the same band: Uniray Lifesciences says Rs 25,000–1,00,000 depending on product range, and Vetnation Pharma says it starts at ₹15,000. A partner stocking a spread of Thomas Vet's ~50 products (calcium and mineral supplements, dewormers, common injections) would sit at the low-to-middle of that band, plus the state wholesale drug licence fee (₹3,000 for Forms 20B/21B in Maharashtra; fees vary by state). Not included: premises (the licence needs at least 10 sq m), a competent person or pharmacist, and credit extended to retailers. A planning range, not the brand's figure.

Sister firm Gopal Cylinders: 2012 cartel fine overturned; cleared in 2019

The Competition Commission fined 45 LPG cylinder makers, including Gopal Cylinders, for bid-rigging in an Indian Oil tender in Feb 2012 (about ₹2.4 Cr for Gopal Cylinders). The Supreme Court set that finding aside in Oct 2018 in appeals by 44 of the 45 firms; we couldn't confirm from the published judgment that Gopal Cylinders was one of them. In a separate case over HPCL tenders, the Commission's Aug 2019 order found no violation by Gopal Cylinders or Gopal Cylinders (Unit-III). These are LPG businesses, not the veterinary unit.

About the Brand

Brand USP

A livestock- and pet-focused veterinary range from a group-owned manufacturing unit in Baddi, sold through PCD distribution partners.

Parent CompanyGopal Lifesciences (Gopal Cylinders Group)
HeadquartersPanchkula, Haryana
Thomas Vet is a veterinary medicines brand from Panchkula, Haryana. It is a division of Gopal Lifesciences, the pharmaceutical arm of the Gopal Cylinders group, which also makes LPG cylinders, valves and regulators. Its products are made at Gopal Lifesciences Unit-II in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, which the company says is WHO-GMP, GLP and ISO 9001:2015 certified. Its product gallery lists about 50 products for livestock and pets, including injections, boluses, tablets, pour-on and spray products, gels, ointments and calcium, mineral and energy supplements. Thomas Vet calls itself a PCD (propaganda-cum-distribution) pharma franchise company. In this model, which works like a distributorship, a partner buys the company's products and promotes and sells them to vets, farmers and retailers in their area. Thomas Vet doesn't publish any partner terms: no investment, minimum order, margins, territory rules or agreement length. The ₹25,000–1 L shown here is our estimate for an opening stock order plus a wholesale drug licence, based on what comparable veterinary PCD companies publish; premises and staff are extra. What to watch: the website gives different founding years (2005 on the About page, 2007 on the home page for the move into pharmaceuticals) and doesn't name the legal entity behind the brand; we found no registered company for it. Court records show the Baddi manufacturing unit lost a 2022 Delhi High Court challenge after the state insurer ESIC rejected its medicine-supply bid for incomplete and inconsistent technical details, and faced a 2023 intellectual-property suit by Jyothy Labs in the Bombay High Court. Government drug labs declared a batch of a human cold tablet made at the unit not of standard quality in 2022, and a Gopal Life Sciences cough syrup from Jharmajri, Baddi in 2025. A sister firm, Gopal Cylinders, was among LPG cylinder makers the Competition Commission fined for bid-rigging in 2012; the Supreme Court set that finding aside in 2018, and a 2019 Commission case found no violation by the two Gopal Cylinders firms. Check the manufacturing licence and the certificates the company claims before paying.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the total investment for a Thomas Vet franchise?
An estimated ₹0.25 lakh–₹1 lakh. Estimate — Thomas Vet doesn't publish any PCD partner terms (investment, minimum order or margins). FranchiseChuno's range covers an opening stock order plus a wholesale drug licence fee, based on what comparable veterinary PCD companies publish; premises, a competent person for the licence and credit to retailers are extra.
What does a Thomas Vet PCD franchise actually involve?
Thomas Vet describes itself as a PCD (propaganda-cum-distribution) pharma franchise company. In practice the partner buys Thomas Vet products and promotes and sells them to vets, farmers and retailers locally, so it works like a distributorship rather than a branded outlet.
What minimum order, margin or territory does Thomas Vet offer?
None of these are published. Thomas Vet's website lists products and certifications but no partner terms, so the minimum order, margins, any area monopoly and the agreement length have to be settled in writing before you pay.
Who makes Thomas Vet products?
Gopal Lifesciences Unit-II at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, according to Thomas Vet. The company says the unit is WHO-GMP, GLP and ISO 9001:2015 certified; we haven't independently verified these certificates.
Has the manufacturer been involved in any court cases?
Yes. In Oct 2022 the Delhi High Court dismissed Gopal Lifesciences (Unit-II)'s challenge to ESIC rejecting its medicine-supply bid, finding its technical details incomplete and inconsistent. Jyothy Labs also filed an intellectual-property suit against the unit in the Bombay High Court in 2023; we found no final decision.
Have any medicines from the Baddi unit failed government quality tests?
Yes, two batches of human medicines. CDSCO's Nov 2022 list declared a batch of PCD COLD tablets made by Gopal Lifesciences (Unit-II), Baddi, not of standard quality (failed disintegration), and its May 2025 state-lab list flagged a batch of Depcof cough syrup from Gopal Life Sciences, Jharmajri, Baddi (failed assay). Neither is a Thomas Vet product. We scanned CDSCO's monthly lists from 2017 to mid-2025.
