Ask before you sign

  1. Speak to at least 3 franchisees who have run an outlet for 2+ years and see their actual monthly sales and profit — a franchisor making money doesn't mean its franchisees do.
  2. Ask for the one-time franchise fee in writing, and whether any part is refundable.
  3. Ask for the royalty and any marketing-fund fee, and how they're calculated (on sales or profit).

Our Estimates

FranchiseChuno estimate

cult.fit doesn't publish these, so here is our best read of the market and how we got there. They are our estimates, not the brand's figures — use them to plan, then confirm the real numbers in writing.

  • Simple payback implied by Cult's own return claims

    about 27–48 months before ramp-up*

Arithmetic on the brand's claims only: payback = 1 ÷ annual ROI. Cult's 'average' 25% a year gives 48 months; its 'upto 45%' gives about 27 months. It ignores the ramp-up period, and Cult's prospectus shows only 42.17% of matured franchise-owned centres reached a 20% centre profit (a margin measure, not ROI) so outcomes vary by centre; treat it as a best-case reading of the claim, not a forecast.

Cult's franchise page headlines 'Avg. 25%' return on investment and, lower down, 'Upto 30 to 45%'. The two claims aren't reconciled, and no sample size or payback is given. Separately, Cult's prospectus says 42.17% of matured franchise-owned centres reached a 20% centre profit in FY26; that is a margin on centre revenue, not an ROI, so the two can't be converted into each other, but it is the closest franchise-centre outcome Cult discloses.

About the Brand

Brand USP

Franchise-owned, Cult-operated 'gym-in-a-box': the partner funds the centre and Cult says it runs it, per its franchise page and prospectus.

HeadquartersBengaluru, Karnataka
Cult.fit (now Cult.Fit Limited) runs gyms and a fitness app under the cult brand. Its draft prospectus, filed in Jul 2026, lists 708 fitness centres in 77 cities at 31 Mar 2026: 218 company-owned, 288 franchise-owned (the 288 includes 114 off-app centres that the filing describes as Gold's Gym-branded, a brand Cult runs as master franchisee) and 202 'marketplace' gyms owned by others. FY26 revenue was ₹1,720.6 Cr and the group's net loss ₹251.9 Cr (restated consolidated figures). For Cult-branded gyms, its franchise page describes a franchise-owned, Cult-operated (FOCO) model with an investment of ₹1.8–3 Cr, an 'average' return of 25% a year (and, further down the page, 'upto 30 to 45%'), and revenue that starts before the gym opens. It publishes no franchise fee, royalty, term, area or payback. The prospectus says own-brand franchisees typically pay a one-time non-refundable fee plus monthly royalties or commercial fees, without giving amounts, and that Cult operates 66.09% of the franchise-owned centres itself. What to watch: the prospectus says only 42.17% of matured franchise-owned centres reached a 20% centre profit in FY26 (centre revenue minus centre costs, a margin measure that can't be converted into the ROI Cult's page quotes). The group is still loss-making, 90% of its fitness-services revenue comes from four metros, and the filing discloses late payments of PF, ESI, TDS and GST in FY24–FY26, a June 2026 civic notice on a Delhi gym, a July 2026 Legal Metrology notice on its online store, and a court petition by its Gold's Gym subsidiary against a former sub-franchisee. Entrackr reported about 150 layoffs in Jan 2024. Cult's terms make memberships non-refundable. A franchisor's growth says nothing about what one centre earns, so ask existing partners for actual centre accounts, royalty and lock-in terms.

Why invest in cult.fit?
