Ask before you sign

  1. Speak to at least 3 franchisees who have run an outlet for 2+ years and see their actual monthly sales and profit — a franchisor making money doesn't mean its franchisees do.
  2. Get a written, itemised cost breakdown — the brand hasn't published one.
  3. Ask for the one-time franchise fee in writing, and whether any part is refundable.

Croma publishes no investment, fee, store size or revenue share; costs and requirements are discussed only with shortlisted applicants. As reported by Outlook Business (Feb 2020), the model is franchise-owned and company-operated: store staff are Croma's and revenue is shared with the franchisee. Investment is a FranchiseChuno estimate.

Our Estimates

FranchiseChuno estimate

Croma doesn't publish these, so here is our best read of the market and how we got there. They are our estimates, not the brand's figures — use them to plan, then confirm the real numbers in writing.

  • All-in cost of a Croma franchise store

    ₹2–5 Cr*

A large-format Croma store is typically several thousand sq ft in a high-street or mall location. Fit-out, fixtures, display and IT for 5,000–8,000 sq ft at roughly ₹2,000–3,500 per sq ft comes to about ₹1–2.8 Cr, plus rent deposits of several months (₹0.3–0.8 Cr) and opening working capital. If the partner also has to fund the store's stock, the figure rises well above this range, because an average Croma store sells about ₹3 Cr a month (see the sales estimate). Outlook Business reported in Feb 2020 that Croma's staff run franchised stores and revenue is shared, but neither Croma nor the report says who owns the stock.

    Unit-economics model · Sep 2026

  • Average sales per Croma store

    ₹2–3 Cr a month*

Infiniti Retail's filed FY25 revenue was ₹19,228 Cr across roughly 540–560 stores, about ₹34–36 Cr a store a year (about ₹3 Cr a month) if everything were sold in stores. Part of that comes through croma.com and Tata Neu, so we cut it by 10–30% for online and other channels. This is a network average: small Edge stores and new towns will sell far less.

About the Brand

Brand USP

Tata Group's multi-brand electronics chain, with a 400+ product own-label range and what Croma calls lifetime assurance on purchases.

Parent CompanyInfiniti Retail Limited (100% owned by Tata Digital, Tata Group)
Cities Present200
HeadquartersMumbai, Maharashtra
Croma is the Tata Group's consumer-electronics retail chain, run by Infiniti Retail Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Digital. Founded in 2006, it sells phones, TVs, appliances, computers and gadgets from 500+ brands through large-format stores, its website and the Tata Neu app. Croma says it has 540 Croma stores and 16 TRiBE stores across 200+ cities; its official store locator listed 551 stores in Sep 2026. In Aug 2026 it opened its first Edge by Croma, a small neighbourhood format for phones and personal tech. Croma invites franchise partners, which it calls Retail Business Partners, but publishes no franchise terms: there is no official investment, fee, revenue share, store size or eligibility on record, and costs are discussed only with applicants it shortlists. The ₹2–5 Cr investment shown here is a FranchiseChuno estimate, not a Croma figure. Outlook Business reported in Feb 2020 that Croma had opened its first franchisee-owned store, in Vapi, Gujarat, on a franchise-owned, company-operated model: the partner owns the store, Croma's own staff run it, and revenue is shared. Croma doesn't publish how many of its stores are franchised or the current terms of that model. What to watch: filings show Infiniti Retail lost money in every year from FY20 to FY25, including a ₹1,091 Cr net loss on ₹19,228 Cr revenue in FY25. For FY26 its CEO told the press it turned an operating profit of ₹159 Cr and cut the net loss to ₹614 Cr, after closing 35 unviable stores. Consumer commissions have ruled both for and against it in individual product complaints, including a Jan 2026 Chandigarh order to refund a defective laptop. Fraudsters have used the Croma name for fake offers, and the Delhi High Court ordered lookalike websites blocked in 2024, so don't pay anyone who promises a Croma franchise before a signed agreement with Infiniti Retail itself.

Why invest in Croma?

- Tata Group brand: Croma says it runs 540 Croma and 16 TRiBE stores across 200+ cities; its locator lists 551 stores (Sep 2026) - Infiniti Retail says it turned operationally profitable in FY26 (₹159 Cr operating profit), after years of losses in its filings - New small-format Edge by Croma stores are being tested for a phased national rollout

What Croma franchisees say

We haven't yet heard from enough Croma franchisees to show anything. We publish totals once 3 or more people who run an outlet have answered and we've called each one to check.

I run a Croma outlet — share how it went

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the total investment for a Croma franchise?
An estimated ₹200 lakh–₹500 lakh. Estimate — Croma doesn't publish an investment figure; it discusses franchise costs only with applicants it shortlists. FranchiseChuno's reasoning is shown with the estimate.
Does Croma publish its franchise fee or investment?
No. Croma's franchise page only invites Retail Business Partner enquiries and says franchise costs and requirements are discussed once a profile is shortlisted. The ₹2–5 Cr range on this page is a FranchiseChuno estimate, not a Croma figure.
Are any Croma stores run by franchisees today?
Croma doesn't publish a count. Outlook Business reported in Feb 2020 that Croma had opened its first franchisee-owned store, in Vapi, Gujarat, under a model where the franchisee owns the store, Croma's own staff run it and revenue is shared. Croma's locator lists 551 stores (Sep 2026) without marking which are franchised. Ask for the number of franchised stores and their results in writing before committing.
Is Croma's operating company profitable?
Filings show Infiniti Retail, which runs Croma, lost money every year from FY20 to FY25 (₹1,091 Cr net loss in FY25). Its CEO told The Economic Times it made a ₹159 Cr operating profit in FY26 but still a ₹614 Cr net loss. The company's results don't tell you how a single franchised store would do.
How can I tell a real Croma franchise offer from a fake one?
Croma says it hasn't appointed any agents to sell on its behalf and never asks for money to be deposited into separate bank accounts. In 2024 the Delhi High Court ordered lookalike 'Croma' websites blocked. Don't pay any registration or franchise fee to anyone before a signed agreement with Infiniti Retail Ltd itself.
What store formats does Croma run?
Large-format Croma stores (540 by Croma's count), 16 TRiBE stores, and since Aug 2026 small Edge by Croma stores for phones and personal tech. Its CEO said in Aug 2026 that 40–45 new stores are planned this fiscal, about half of them Edge outlets.
