Domino's Franchise Cost in India: Why You Can't Buy One, and What a Store Really Earns

No individual can buy a Domino's franchise in India: Jubilant FoodWorks holds the exclusive master franchise and runs all 2,513 stores. Its filings show what a store really earns (about ₹80,000 a day) and the royalty it pays Domino's.

You cannot buy a Domino's franchise in India, at any price. Jubilant FoodWorks is the master franchisee of Domino's Pizza for India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, and its own website says it holds the "sole and exclusive rights to own and operate" Domino's restaurants in those countries. Every one of the 2,513 Domino's stores in India (end of June 2026) sits inside that one listed company. So the real question behind "Domino's franchise cost in India" is a different one: what does a Domino's store cost and earn for the only company allowed to run it? Jubilant's filings answer most of that. A mature store sells about ₹80,000 a day, new stores are getting cheaper to build, and Jubilant pays the US parent a royalty on every pizza.

That is the useful version of the answer. Here is what the numbers say.

Why Jubilant, and only Jubilant, runs Domino's in India

Domino's Pizza Inc. in the US does not sell single stores abroad. Its FY2025 annual report (10-K) says the "vast majority" of its international stores run under master franchise agreements, where one company gets a whole country. India is the biggest of those markets: the 10-K lists 2,396 Indian stores as of 28 December 2025, ahead of the UK (1,325) and China (1,321). Jubilant renewed its India deal on 31 March 2026 and disclosed it to the exchanges the next day. The new agreement runs for 15 years, with an option to extend by another 10, and keeps Jubilant's exclusive right to develop and operate Domino's stores, use the trademarks and control the supply chain. The fee terms were not made public; the company said only that the consideration matched the commercial terms of the franchise arrangement. A master franchise agreement can allow sub-franchising, but we found no record of Jubilant selling Domino's outlets to individual investors. It grows by opening its own stores, at a pace of 230 to 250 new restaurants a year according to its May 2026 earnings call. If you have seen a website or a phone caller offering a Domino's outlet for a fee, that offer does not come from the only company that can grant one.

What a Domino's store in India actually earns

Jubilant reports a metric called ADS, average daily sales per store. For mature Domino's stores it was ₹80,069 in Q4 FY26 (January to March 2026), down from ₹85,396 in Q3, according to the company's results as reported by brokerages. ICICI Securities' 21 May 2026 results note puts it at "~INR 80k" despite the company pushing into new, smaller cities.

Multiply ₹80,069 by 365 and a mature store's yearly sales come to roughly ₹2.9 crore. That is our arithmetic, not a Jubilant figure, and new stores in small towns sell less than mature metro ones.

The delivery share explains the store design. With about three-quarters of sales going out on a bike, Jubilant told analysts on its 20 May 2026 call that new openings lean towards 600 to 700 sq ft delivery and carry-out stores in metros, rather than big dine-in restaurants.

What it costs Jubilant to open one

Jubilant does not publish a rupee figure for the cost of one new Domino's store in its recent results. What it does say is the direction: management stated on the Q4 FY26 call that capex per store has fallen 20% year on year for three years running, credited to smaller formats and kitchen redesigns. For the whole company, FY27 capex guidance is ₹750 crore to ₹900 crore, and the CFO said that money is now mostly behind new stores for Domino's and Popeyes.

You will find franchise-guide websites quoting precise "Domino's franchise investment" figures in lakhs or crores. None of the ones we checked cite a Jubilant document, and since no individual can buy a store, there is no franchisee investment to quote. Treat those numbers as guesses.

The royalty every Domino's pizza in India carries

Jubilant is itself a franchisee, and it pays Domino's Pizza Inc. a royalty on sales. The US company's FY2025 10-K says royalties from international master franchisees vary by market and averaged about 3.0% of sales in 2025. For India specifically, Business Standard reported in 2019 that Jubilant's franchise fees to Domino's had stayed around 3.3% of net sales, the level it paid in FY17 and FY18. That India figure is older, but it is the last one reported, and it sits close to the current international average.

To put that in store terms: at 3% on ₹2.9 crore of yearly sales, a mature store would send roughly ₹8.8 lakh a year to the US parent. That is an illustration using the global average, not a disclosed India number.

The fake Domino's franchise warning

Jubilant's own websites carry a franchise notice. It says the company has found fraudsters posing as Jubilant FoodWorks and "asking for payment from gullible investors against the promise of a Domino's franchise", and that anyone who deals with them does so at their own risk.

If anyone asks you for a registration fee, an approval fee or a security deposit to "allot" a Domino's outlet, stop. Jubilant runs its stores itself, and it published this warning because fraudsters have already tried it.

Check the bank account name before any transfer. Check it twice.

Pizza brands you can actually franchise

If the goal is a pizza business, look at brands that do sign franchisees. Pizza Hut is closed too: in India it is run by Yum!'s large franchisees, Devyani International and Sapphire Foods, not sold to individuals. Chicago Pizza, a slice-pizza chain started in 2007, does take franchisees; its own 2025 franchise deck lists a ₹7 lakh franchise fee and a 6% royalty. The trade-off is plain. You get a brand that will sell to you, and you give up the scale, supply chain and app that make a Domino's store do ₹80,000 a day.
