Our Estimates

Aachi Masala doesn't publish these, so here is our best read of the market and how we got there. They are our estimates, not the brand's figures — use them to plan, then confirm the real numbers in writing.

  • Cost of a town-level Aachi distributorship

    ₹10–25 L*

Aachi publishes nothing. A distribution practitioner on Quora (2020) put the requirement for regional spice brands such as Sakthi and Aachi at ₹10–15 L, and warned that Aachi expects distributors to hold at least a month of stock. We add a small delivery vehicle (₹5–8 L) and allow for higher stock and retailer credit since 2020, giving ₹10–25 L. A godown on rent and staff salaries are monthly costs on top.

  • Distributor trade margin

    About 5–7% of sales*

Aachi doesn't publish its distributor margin. The same practitioner put regional spice-brand distribution margins at about 6%, against about 3% on ITC's non-tobacco lines; we show 5–7% as a range. Schemes and credit terms can move this a lot.

About the Brand

Brand USP

A Chennai masala brand that ICRA says reaches about 12 lakh retail outlets through 3,500 direct distributors, with 72% of group sales in Tamil Nadu (FY25).

HeadquartersChennai, Tamil Nadu
Aachi is a Chennai brand of packaged masalas, spice powders, pickles, instant mixes, flour and ghee, founded in 1995 by A.D. Padmasingh Isaac. Its main company, Aachi Masala Foods Pvt Ltd, reported revenue of ₹2,173 Cr and a profit of ₹49 Cr in FY25 (filings). ICRA says about 90% of group sales come from South India and 72% from Tamil Nadu alone. The way to partner with Aachi is a distributorship, not a franchise. Its official Instagram called for GST-registered distributors in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Telangana in Jul 2025. Aachi publishes no investment, margin, territory or contract terms; our estimate for a town-level distributorship is ₹10–25 L*. Aachi says it has 5,000 distributors and 1 million retailers; ICRA (Dec 2025) counts 7 super distributors, 3,500 direct distributors and about 12 lakh outlets. We found no franchise or branded-shop offer on Aachi's own sites. What to watch: ICRA cut Aachi's bank-loan rating from BBB+ to BBB in Oct 2024 and notes group revenue fell 11.6% in FY25 on lower commodity prices, with high working-capital needs and debt. Outside Tamil Nadu the brand is much smaller, so a distributor elsewhere may find it harder to sell. Legal: Madras High Court records show the 'Aachi' trademark belongs to the founder personally (as sole proprietor of Aachi Spices and Foods), not to Aachi Masala Foods; the company uses the name under licence agreements (2007, most recently renewed in Mar 2020) whose terms aren't public, so the company you would deal with does not own the brand name. Food safety: Kerala officials banned one 2019 batch of Aachi chilli powder for excess pesticide (Aachi disputed the test), the Madras High Court in 2021 refused to quash a food-safety prosecution over MSG in its fish fry masala, and a 2022 California lawsuit alleges missing lead warnings on several Aachi masalas (outcome not found). Aachi has also taken several lookalike brands to court (2021–2023). Aachi doesn't publish distributor margins — ask existing distributors what they actually earn.

Why invest in Aachi Masala?

- Filings show Aachi Masala Foods was profitable every year from FY20 to FY25, with a ₹49 Cr profit on ₹2,173 Cr revenue in FY25. - ICRA (Dec 2025) counts 3,500 direct distributors and about 12 lakh retail outlets selling Aachi products. - ICRA reaffirmed an [ICRA]BBB (Stable) rating on its bank loans in Dec 2025.
