Spinny has acquired 100% of GoMechanic, India's car-service and repair franchise network, in a deal announced on November 6, 2025. Spinny bought the stake from GoMechanic's founders and its investor group, which included Stride Ventures Debt Fund II, Lifelong India, and Hero Enterprise Partner Ventures. Reported deal value: ₹450 crore, in a mix of cash and stock.

  • Buyer: Spinny
  • Seller: GoMechanic's founders and its investor consortium (Stride Ventures Debt Fund II, Lifelong India, Hero Enterprise Partner Ventures)
  • Deal value: ₹450 crore, cash and stock
  • Announced: November 6, 2025
  • Funded by: Spinny's $160 million Series G round

A $160 million round to pay for it

The acquisition rides on a fresh Series G round: Spinny raised $160 million, valuing the used-car marketplace at roughly $1.8 billion post-money. Existing investor Accel put in about $44 million of that round, with WestBridge Capital investing an amount similar to its earlier $35-40 million commitment. For Spinny, buying GoMechanic is a straight line into after-sales vehicle maintenance, a business it didn't have before this deal.

The 2023 collapse behind today's price tag

In our read, the deal matters less than what came before it.

It's GoMechanic's second ownership change in three years, and the first one wasn't voluntary. The company's founders admitted in January 2023 to inflating revenue figures at roughly 60 of its 1,000 service centres to mislead investors, a scandal that erased most of its $285 million Series C valuation and triggered a 70% workforce cut. A consortium led by Hero Group, Lifelong Group, and Stride Ventures took control later that year, replaced the founding team, and rebuilt the business into the platform Spinny has now bought. Anyone reading GoMechanic's franchise listing as a story about a single steady company should read the 2023 collapse first, since the brand that exists today was assembled out of the wreckage of the one that raised its Series C, and this acquisition is the third owner to take a turn at it since.

The brand Spinny just bought was assembled out of the wreckage of the one that raised its Series C.
